One of my friends is planning to launch an eCommerce websites. We both did some research and some hosting providers said that Magento cannot be installed for shared hosting packages and therefore I have to buy VPS. Is it the same for MilesWeb as well?
To be frank, there will not be a lot of traffic in the beginning. Eventually when the traffic grows, my friend will not mind investing in a VPS.
It will be great if someone provides me information on this.
I know web hosting companies asking the Magento customers to start with a VPS. For established Magento website, VPS would be an ideal solution. For a complete new Magento website, a shared hosting package would be sufficient. Later as the website grows it can be hosted over a VPS or Dedicated Server.
You can checkout our Magento hosting plans at https://www.milesweb.com/magento-hosting.php
Thank you so much for the update. According to my knowledge MilesWeb is one of the rare web hosting companies that enable Magento on a shared hosting platform.... :D
I have also gone through all your shared hosting packages (https://www.milesweb.com/cpanel-hosting.php). I would like to know if Magento can be installed on any of them or only on some shared hosting packages?
Magento can be installed on any of the eCommerce hosting (https://www.milesweb.com/ecommerce-hosting.php) packages.
In my opinion a self-managed VPS (https://www.milesweb.com/self-managed-vps.php) is cheaper than a managed VPS (https://www.milesweb.com/vps-hosting.php), is that true?
Yes a self-managed VPS is cheaper as compared to a managed VPS.
According to my knowledge VPS is the best hosting option for any eCommerce website. One of my friends started an online store with a VPS and he is doing perfectly fine. His online store website is very well supported with the VPS.
Well, I would like to contradict from the opinions voiced in this thread. You all are right in terms of saying that VPS hosting provides with sufficient resources for managing an online store. However, initially an abundance of resources might not be required. So I feel in the beginning, the eCommerce store can be started on a shared hosting platform and later the hosting package can be updated as the website requirements increase.

Yes that's the ideal way. But some of the eCommerce store owners think that with a high-end server, it will be easy to set up and manage the online store.
Well, I think shared or VPS, the most important thing for an online store is the shopping cart. As long as you are managing your store on a good shopping cart, all is well :D
Yes true! Any type of shopping cart can be installed on a shared server or VPS. We are discussing the web hosting service here!!!
