Post by: Harpreet Kaur on June 25, 2015, 01:33:24 PM
I was going through an article and I read about how Google considers HTTPS as an important factor for website ranking. Is it really true? Is it important for every website to have an SSL certificate?

Yes HTTPS is a ranking factor because Google considers the websites having SSL certificate installed as more genuine and authentic. This rule is applicable to all types therefore most of the websites consider installing SSL certificates as a result of which their web address starts from HTTPS.

Whenever you search in browser for a particular website, it checks whether the certificate is not expired, or has been issued by a trusted authority, and search is being performed for the correct website. If any of these checks fails, your web browser will display a warning where user can understand that the site is not secured by SSL.

With a HTTPS connection, your data exchanged is securely encrypted. This means that even if somebody managed to get access the connection, they would not be able decrypt any of the data.
