Title: Unlimited Hosting really means. Isn’t it?
Post by: Trisha on August 09, 2016, 12:46:32 PM
Every provider is following new trend for selling -"Unlimited Hosting" for disk, bandwidth etc. But on other side one should write foot notes with harsh conditions for unlimited usage. This will clear picture about usage of unlimited hosting.  Unlimited is worse than limited.

I agree unlimited isn't ever unlimited. There is always a usage restriction. In normal case some disk space is allocated but in unlimited hosting anything would actually consume beyond the limit of disk space. Hence you are breaking the terms

Actually there is limit on server resources usage like (I/O , RAM, CPU,DB Connections) and numbers of files that you can have on your account (search terms and conditions for inodes). But some hosts are more transparent about their limits and they clearly mention it in their TOS.

I agree with all. There is nothing unlimited everyone has their limit. I will recommend everyone that stay away from such terms. We better know our usage and requirement. So according to that we should choose our plan instead of such "unlimited plan".

Unlimited is just a marketing term to attract customers. It is impossible to give unlimited disk space or bandwidth. Even if they are offering unlimited but as soon as you start hitting beyond your limit than they will take action against you saying that your issues are affecting their servers. Why unlimited plan? Identify the resource as per your limit and opt for reliable host with quality support.

Yes, agree. Unlimited hosting has become just myth. Because, there is always limit on server to host for particular domains, and if limitation exceeds, server speed may get down.

Unlimited means differently to every company. For e.g. if you have unlimited space but no backups or unlimited space and max of 10 MySQL connections and 128mb max memory to run site with no backups. Web hosting companies use this term differently as I said before but this is very clear there is no such plans or schemes called unlimited. I have tried to get unlimited plan for 80GB hard drive but it didn't work.
