Title: Need advice on positions drop and internal growth
Post by: Rajesh on December 12, 2016, 05:32:30 PM
There are 2 sites in the same niche, but a completely different service
Took 3 years to get at the top on Google

Two days ago, the rankings fall from 5-20 positions for all home page keywords

The requests that were leading to internal pages has dropped because of which the inquiries fell.

1. Projects are generally of different schemes, but the drop is very similar.
2. Home also remained relevant in extradition Google on demand, without replacing the internal but when searching for a website on a sinking demand, the main one of the sites is sometimes at 2 - 5 place only.

So I thought of asking for suggestions so posted here on the forum.

Has anyone gone through such a situation? Should I start working on the fixes wait for some days?
The only concern over here is, I have 2 sites with similar problems.

Check if there is any problem with the OnPage or OFFPage SEOactivities. You can make use of tools like MOZ or Majestic SEO. Also, check if there is any notification related to spam or suggestions in google webmaster tools.

I would suggest you to not to panic. Wait for a couple of days and let everything settle down. Till then you can investigate about what has exactly happened but don't make any changes over website right now.

I checked with some tools and they are showing high probability of keyword stuffing but something that is even more puzzling is that the occurrences on the keywords is just 1- 2% and is not even accurate.

Should I try to rewrite the content, or wait?

Most likely, you won't find the perfect ratio of keywords that you have used. Try to check the external and internal links and see what type of keywords you have used for anchor texts. And also, do not forget to check the meta tags on your website.

I have used these services and whenever I was to refresh the Page, the value kept changing continuously so it is better to not to take them seriously.

I did not subscribe to any of the tools because of its cost. The only problem which I need to work on is link building because the home page has got the links with the same text a lot. Should I try to change them or build a new one?

From my point of view, similar anchortext should not be repeated more than 2 times. 60% brand keywords, 40% with the targeted keywords in general should be taken into consideration.

And what percentage should be considered for internal linking?

Can use the same strategy for internal linking but if you are having the same header all over the website, it is better to over internal linking.

Try to figure out the on-page activity first. Check whether targeted keywords are linked to the specified page. Also, you need to track the meta tags and description whether they go hand in hand or not.

Yes, very rightly said. Even I had same problem with my website, few days back. I checked for all those errors with Moz tool, and searched for both on page and off page activities. It helped to diagnose the issue.
