Title: How do you link to external sites?
Post by: Kayra on March 13, 2017, 10:15:38 AM
Everyone wants to get links because they help a lot in the ranking.

But is linking to the other sites good for a website? (If the answer is no, how do they expect to receive links if they do not link to the other sites?)

What criteria do you use to link to other sites and how do you do it?

My criteria are basically as following:

- Link if relevant to the context;
- I'm trying to link to an exact keyword that that page could be found.
- I always avoid links with URL or "click here"

And you?

Good morning @Kayra and everyone at the forum. I have already tested many link strategies on several sites that I have, in some cases worked (I ranked well) in others did not make much difference. Nowadays I no longer take care of doing external link building, I am more concerned with organizing my own internal link structure. With the penguin issue, even if you seek a link exchange partnership with sites of the same context I do not see this as primordial in a strategy of success in SEO.

Maybe one day it was, but in the present day, and I say this taking into account the last 6 months, it is no longer of use, at least for me, and according to my experiences (trial/ error or implement/ measure/ improve). Currently what is giving me results is simplicity and objectivity in content. If I have good content, With tags worked objectively and purely in my content that brings me good visits. And a good visitor is the one who can find exactly what he is looking for, this generates more time on the site, depending on the page view search, consequently less rejection. Pro google, quality content today, is content that satisfies the need of those who seek and not the one that has a better ranking (high page rank, partners with high page rank or domain authority and texts of the links works according to the term that one wants to position well). I am no longer part of the "everybody" group that wants to receive links because it helps a lot in the ranking.

@Torreto, I really think you misunderstood my point. Incidentally, I updated the title of the discussion. The question was about linking your site to other pages.

Hi, I liked what Torreto wrote. I'm new to this area and I see that everything here has a lot of importance.

My question is about the tags. How do I know when a page of mine has a tag? Or rather should I put tags in all or still what are tags ????? Sorry for the lack of knowledge.

I have a free WordPress blog and in the statistics, some tags appear but I do not know if it was me who put them ???? Could you help me to understand this? Sorry for so many questions.

Add a dofollow tag if that link is important to the visitor as it will enrich the experience with the content. I also do not use anchor text like "click here" as I find this horrible, although it is pitiful that a simple link in the middle of the text (with the natural anchor of the text) is not clear to all users. I have never worried if the anchor is the one it is found but if it conveys the idea of the content that the visitor is viewing, will add better users on my site.

@Kayra, I still have a very great doubt and that is, what if I link a few thousand pages to matching pages from one site to another with complementary content, especially if the 2 sites have the same whois. In fact, I am afraid to do this, even if it is a one-to-one correspondence, it may get punished by Google.

@Kabir,

All automatic linking is risky and does not add value. Maybe it was a good case to use a nofollow. To use a dofollow, you need to look closely at what is being done and whether or not it is possible to be interpreted as Black Hat.

People, I'm new here and I'm enjoying the comments and learning too much with you.

I'm starting to make external links just now. Until then, I had learned that I could not point to others if people did not go away ... have they gone through this? But it was only read a little more and I saw how important it is to make external links. Well, I do without problems, because in 100% of cases they are the links from the sources I use in articles. For example, when an expert talks about something, I go there and put his link. And as it is a new practice for me, I will have to do this on the whole site !!!

@Roman003, Your visitors will not leave your site if you use the target = " _blank " links, and if you're linking to a site other than yours, use a nofollow.

Whenever it is interesting to the context, I link mainly references to the Wikipedia pages because it is a reliable site and will give a complete information.

For example, if you need to add links to videos, you should put YouTube video links but always remember to add the description of the video on the site and giving the author rights. So this will not create a problem for you.

External links make your site more valuable and scalable resource.
Avoid using spammy links and low-quality sites.
