I want to invest in social media ads and I am a bit confused between these two social media sites - Facebook and Instagram. Have you ever tried any of these social media for paid ads? If yes, then do share your opinion on this and help me to invest in the best for my business.
Facebook is the oldest social media platform that has an immense active user base than Instagram. If you are looking to expand the brand awareness without focusing a particular age group then Facebook is the right choice.
Since two years, I have been using Facebook ads. Facebook offers tons of ad targeting options that allow targeting new users. You will get this option in the "Audience" section of ad set creation in the Facebook manager.
Along with the mentioned two platforms for social media ads, there are lots of other options also available in the market for the same. In that, Facebook is the most popular social media website people are using these days. Also, most of the web users find a brand's Facebook page more useful than a company website and will actually visit the former first. It shows that consumers are more likely to see your Facebook posts several times a week than visit your homepage. Moreover, recently Facebook launched Dynamic Ads which tracks a user's browsing information to provide targeted product advertisements. So I would personally recommend you to choose Facebook ads over Instagram ads and avail the maximum benefit from the same.

In terms of engagement, Instagram is more active than Facebook. As per the stats of sproutsocial, in 2017, 70.7 % of US businesses were utilizing Instagram. Whereas in 2016, it was 48.8%.
I am using both the platforms for paid ads. As per my experience, both the platforms are worth for the paid ads. You can target both for your business.
I am using Facebook ads and I haven't tried the Instagram ads service. And I am getting good results from Facebook ads. It gives options to target your ads for the particular region, age, niche and many other options.
Nowadays, social media is in the boon. Everyone is busy sharing their personal stuff or business activities on social media.
Facebook and Instagram play vital roles but has some pros and cons :
1) Users : Facebook has come earlier to Instagram so it has more number of users.
2) Demographics: Instagram is mostly used by celebrities and a lot of people like to follow showbiz people. Whereas Facebook is used by all ages of people from kids to adult. You can easily select your desired audience on Facebook.
3) Features: Facebook has many features which may confuse newbies to use it.
On the other hand, Instagram comes with limited features like to post images and videos which makes it handier for the newbies.
4) Advertisement: Along with your product you can highlight its detail features on Facebook. On Instagram, you can just showcase the product abruptly.
So I would suggest to start your advertisement with Facebook and later move on to Instagram.
