Domain Privacy :

Domain privacy is a service provided by domain name registrars. As a site owner, you need to purchase privacy from the domain registrar, who in turn will replace your information in the WHOIS with information for a forwarding service in-order to maintain your privacy and anonymity.

Every domain name has a WHOIS listing, which can be searched from the database of registered domains. It is available on the internet for everyone.

If you don't have domain privacy or WHOIS privacy protection then all your contact information (such as name, phone number, address, etc) is available to the public.

With WHOIS protection, your personal information remains shielded and instead, the information belonging to your domain registrar will be visible.

WHOIS privacy/ domain privacy helps you to :
•   Control spam and junk mails
•   Hide your website from competitors to avoid spamming and market research
•   Prevents firms from capturing your personal information and resell it to others
•   Keep away stalkers and fraudsters

Every domain name has public information attached to it about the owner of the domain name. The name, email address, phone number, and even home address of the owner is openly available online in the WHOIS database.
The rules and laws surrounding domain names require every domain name owner to reveal their contact information. But in most cases, some people wouldn't want their personal contact information available to the public.
Because scammers, hackers, and anyone else can see it. For this domain owner needs to take Domain Privacy service. Domain Privacy is a service allows you to hide your personal contact information from the public WHOIS database and replace it with generic contact information instead.
