SMTP - retry time not reached for any host after a long failure period

Hello guys,

One of our client was facing an issue with mail that he was not able to send an email to a single domain xzy.com, received an errors as below.

retry time not reached for any host after a long failure period

retry timeout exceeded

After investigating on it, I have solved this error and you will also be able to solve this error, just follow with the given steps.

The issue is because of the corrupted exim db files.

cd /var/spool/exim/db
rm -f retry retry.lockfile
rm -f wait-remote_smtp wait-remote_smtp.lockfile
service exim restart

Hello folks,

There is another reason for the same issue, try to ping remote mail server's IP from the server you are sending emails. If you not receive any response then mail server IP should be blocked at remote mail server or in network.
