Hey,
I want to buy a domain and for that, I came up with a domain name. But, during registration, I found out that the same domain name is already registered. What shall I do in such case, I genuinely want to have that domain name.

Hey Ritu,
I know, finding a perfect domain name gets tough at times. In your case, you can do the following things :

1) Think of different domain idea: It is always better to get a new domain name, rather than fighting for the already established name. The reason is, you will first have to put in the efforts to make people (who already knew the existing domain name) forget about it, which is not 100% possible. And then create your identity.

2) Buy a domain from the current owner :
Still, if you desperately need the same domain name, then you can approach to its current owner and ask him to sell you. This can be a costly method.

3) Wait for it to expire :
In such a case, you need to be very patient and wait for a domain to expire. So that before renewing you can buy it.

The choice is always yours.

If your top and the required domain name is taken, you can still end up with a great domain name. Here are some solutions to consider based on your goals, your budget, and your willingness to be creative.

  • Give offers to its current owner to buy the domain name from
  • Try different domain extension with the same domain name
  • Try some completely different domain name

There are many wonderful domain names out there, and plenty of ways to find another one that will work for you, or to potentially claim the one that you want. Here are some helpful hints for what to do next:

Make a small change
If the exact domain name that you want isn't available, a very similar name may still be. Sometimes making a simple change will result in a name that's available. Remember: the keyword is simple.

Use a new domain ending
One way to keep the domain name that you want may be to simply change the ending. The most common domain ending or TLD (top-level domain) is .com, but there are now a variety of TLDs, ranging from .academy to .coffee to .photography. A TLD that's relevant for you may even help explain and describe what you do.

Legal action

If you own the trademark of the name used in the domain, you may have an option to take legal action to claim the domain name. This generally applies only if someone is offering similar goods or services as you, and if they began using the name after you. The first thing to do if you believe that your trademark is being infringed upon is to discuss the issue with your lawyer or legal team.

As you found that your dream domain is already registered in that case you have the following options.

option 1) Buy that domain from that owner
for that, you have to do the following steps:

  • Search from where to buy a domain that's taken like

  • Find out who owns your dream domain.

  • You can do this by using WHOIS.

  • Get contact info for the decision-maker

  • You get email contact from the WHOIS site

  • If the owner is ready to resell then start negotiating

  • Pay for and transfer ownership of the domain

If you are not successful to regain your Dream domain then,

option 2) Choose a different domain extension

option 3) Go With a Completely Different Domain Name

option 4) You can add a verb to your domain name

Get the domain which already purchased by someone is most of the time impossible. but you can look for a similar domain name that has a different extension.

For example, You want Abc. com but that is not available then you should go for abc. in, abd. co. in

If in case of extensions also are not available and you want the same domain name. then you should have two choices.

1. Buy Domain from the owner:

In this case, you go through the website and find the website owner and approach them for that domain.

2. Wait for Expire that Domain:

In this case, you need to wait for the domain to expire so after expired you can buy it.
