I have generally noticed that whenever someone transfer the website to a new web hosting company, the organic search traffic reduces. What should the website owners do in such a case? After all loss of organic search traffic can be dangerous.

Here are a few things that you can do for ensuring that there is no organic traffic loss while migrating your website to a new hosting provider:

* Check the organic traffic and keyword rankings and keep a record of it.
* Crawl your old website and record all the URLs. Use an online tool like DeepCrawl to check the changes in the website before and after migration.
* Check the loading speed of some key web pages (e.g. homepage, main category, sub category, product page, blog post). You can use Pingdom Website Speed Test.
* As far as possible make sure that the URLs of your migrated website is the same as the old ones, don't make any changes in the URLs.
* In case you are changing the URLs as well, you need to set a 301 redirect that points to the new version of the URLs.

If you have transferred your website perfectly to the new web host and if you still experience loss of traffic, then check your website through Pingdom's DNS health tool and also with rhe Ping / Traceroute tool. These tools will help you in identifying potential server communication and content delivery issues that might exist.

Changing the web hosting platform alone might not have any major effect on the way in which a search engine ranks the website as long as the change is in the form of a smooth transition. A small static website with just a few web pages is pretty straightforward and easy to transfer. However, moving a huge website with a large number of web pages, multiple servers and with complex hosting and redundancy factors is ofcourse a complicated task and it has to be executed smoothly in order to make sure that the online reputation of the website is kept intact.
