404 Crawl Errors in Google Webmaster Search Console
« on: October 13, 2017, 11:51:09 AM »
Hello everybody! If in the Errors section of Google webmaster in section, there are URLs that are giving 404 a code error, it is necessary to adjust them by giving proper redirects or is there something else that we need to do? After all, the pages that are listed there are some of those that I do not need. So should I keep it the way it is or need to do something else?

Redirects are not needed, but what you need to do is depends on the site. In general, it's better to have 404 competently.

Which CMS have you used to build the website?

The website is built using WordPress 2 years ago. Have made a couple of changes in structure 3 months ago.

I would suggest you to try to find the cause, maybe there are some common places and you can close their indexing at once. If there are not enough pages, I would try to hide them from the index via Google Webmasters Search Console.

Yes, the fact of the matter is that they are all different, and it is not possible to block all the robots, and adding too many redirects is of no use. So I need to know whether I should really fix them, keep it the way is it on the site.

Something similar happened with me when my website was hacked and was flooded with the script that had a bunch of links. Everything was deleted, but then for almost a year there were missing pages in the webmaster with code 404. Some deleted manually, some eventually disappeared. So just wait and watch. If the pages are nowhere available, they will disappear as time passes.
