We all know, at some point in our life we may have thought about:
Why I do not drop everything, create a blog and go around traveling the world? Yes, the idea may even be tempting, but blogging is not as simple as we think. The activity requires time, knowledge, dedication and the key, patience.
But why after much research and investment some blogs just do not work? Knowing that simple element may hinder access and retention of your readers. Find out what they are looking for:
1 – Your blog does not have a goal
Setting a goal is a very important point when creating a blog. What type of blog do you want to create? Report the movie releases or want to write about books and movies? Keeping this in mind, you can think of the name, layout, and approach.
If you change the subject constantly failing to make relevant updates, for example, and in between talk about weight loss, regular readers may not return to the blog.
Tip: First of all, find a niche that interests you. Then think about the issues that you will address.
2 – You did not take your work seriously
Blogging requires efforts. If you think that “post anything” is just all right, it’s best to review your ideas. The process is tiring but if you really like the subject and you are willing to share knowledge, it counts worth. Creating quality content that is well grounded will require time, so it takes dedication.
Some beginner bloggers begin posting several posts a week and end up reducing this number over the month – which undermines access. Remember that you are turning an authority and frequency of publications is essential to “educate” your readers so that they visit your blog all week to learn about the latest news and happenings.
Tip: Notice how much time you have and are willing to spend a few hours watching their favorite series so you can write about. Are you really willing to be a blogger? No, friend, it is not so simple.
3 – You only think about the money
If you follow the topics you choose and do a good job, it’s likely that you will be able to generate profit from your blog, but blogging is a process, nothing is immediate, nor it easy. Choose a niche and focus on it. All segments are profitable, some are more crowded, but if you show that you have content and have a differential, can achieve good partnerships with brands and other blogs.
Yes, many bloggers have done well, but they took a long time for this. Do not think you will win x thousand readers only in a month. Be realistic!
Tip: Do not give up on your blog until you have tried for at least eight months or more. If you really like the subject and what you do, you should invest. Think of it as a long-term investment. π
4 – You did not invest in your own domain
Let’s talk real? A blog hosted on your own domain is seen with different eyes when compared to one without. A “purchased” domain increases credibility. So invest!
5 – The layout is really cool?
If the layout of your blog does not have a good usability, if it is not visually pleasing, understand that your readers may not return. Choose a good layout for them, one that is responsive and fits yours and as well as users need.
Tip: If you have no money to hire a designer, opt for minimalist themes; it is easier to hit the black and white than to err with a mixture of yellow links, blue text, and red background, right?
6 – Your posts have quality? Do you like to read them?
If the texts do not have grammatical errors, if you offer a differentiated content with depth, delicious read, you already have half way to make your blog work. Now, there’s nothing worse than someone starts reading an article on an interesting subject and find many errors, is it good? Review, search, ask a friend to read and comment. This will surely make a difference at the end! π
So, now that you have discovered why some blogs do not do as good as expected, what do you think about starting a blog?
