Hello Members,

Would like to know your opinion on this: Does the type of SSL certificate affect the ranking of the site?

Nowadays every website owner is rushing to buy a certificate and go for https to please the search engine. But the question is whether the search engines determine the type of certificate: only the domain is confirmed, or the organization's verification is passed. Logically, we must understand.

What do you guys think about this? Has anyone done any tests?

I don't have any link for the proof (too lazy to look for), but in 2016 there was an investigation (it seems Moz or SearchEngineLand), in which it was shown that there is no causal relationship between the type of certificate and the positions in the issue.

One exception: Google does not recognize Symantec's office certificates after it caught this office on fraud.

You can even put Let's Encrypt, the main thing is to have an SSL certificate. Personally, I'm using Let's Encrypt on my website.

Concerning the confirmation of the domain/confirmation of the organization I will say this:

If you have a large office with multi million turnovers, it is better to buy a certificate with the organization's confirmation.

This is not for Google, it's more for your users, so they see a green lock with the name of the organization and will give you money.

If small/medium business - do not worry.

Thanks for the reply! We have a small online store and I plan to buy a paid SSL Certificate but confused whether we should opt for it now or use Let's Encrypt for now?

Google has recently announced that having SSL Certificate is the easiest thing site owners can do to boost SEO ranking. The Google search boost the keyword ranking by using SSL Certificates, which applies to all sites. Whether the personal information is shared on website or not. That means even if your website doesn't have a checkout page, login pages, or any financial or sensitive information, you can still get SEO benefits by installing an SSL Certificate on your website. There are different SSL certificates available as they perform encryption to secure information. Always make sure that choose right SSL certificate for your website.

No doubt Google announcement has turned an uptake of HTTPS implementation by marketers. From the SEO point of view the green bar SSL Certificates creates trust to the users which further helps in boosting conversion rates. Overall your web-page visibility will improve. The SSL certificate enables security for online credentials and data transfer. With the padlock and HTTPS it makes secure connections from server to browser. But, as not all the provider offers the same type of certificate, hence, choosing the right type of SSL certificate can be bit complicated. However, there are three types of certificates:
Domain Validated certificates (DV), Organization Validated certificate (OV) and Extended Validation certificates (EV).
From the above it come with the level of protections, LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH. Try to identify your needs with the Domain or Sub-Domain and then choose the type of protection accordingly.

Hello,

The advantage of Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is that it provides a secure connection to users on the pages where they share personal data with you. But, when a user shares precious info, like credit card details, HTTPS adds extra layers of protection. You'll need to install a Secure Socket Layer certificate (the protocol that HTTPS uses) to ensure that data between your web server and browser remains private and secure.

How do we know if website has SSL Certificate or not?
     Check with simple steps:

   - Check if URL starts with "https://"
   - Click on Padlock icon

SSL Digital Certificate is very good for SEO, HTTPS is a ranking signal for Google User safety is a main priority of world's most popular Search Engine.

We all know that higher rank means more traffic and more traffic means more business. That's why SSL has become part of Google's ranking algorithm.
