Web hosting is used to host your website to make it accessible over the internet. Content Delivery Network (CDN) helps in speeding up the access and delivery of your website. CDN can take the content and serve it across the globe. CDN decreases the download time of your website. In web hosting, content gets distributed by a single server whereas in CDN your content gets distributed from the multi-host environment.
As there is no need to have both I would suggest going for CDN instead of traditional Web Hosting.

The web hosting and CDN are two different concepts.

The web hosting is a service in which you buy disk space on the server to store your website data and files. Whereas, CDN is a system of distributed servers that deliver pages and other web content to nearest server easily with no time.

Many people who are new to web hosting get confused between a CDN and web hosting service. Let's clear the confusion by knowing the differences between them:

  • You opt for a web hosting service for hosting your website on a server so that the users can access it over the internet. While a content delivery network is used for speeding up the access/delivery of your website's assets to those users.

  • If you select traditional web hosting it might deliver 100% of your content to the user. But if your web host is located across the world, the user needs to wait for the data to be retrieved from where your web server is located. Instead with a CDN a majority of your static and dynamic content is taken and served from across the globe, reducing the download times. If the CDN server is closer to the visitor, he will get the assets loaded faster.

  • In web hosting you get only one server. In a content delivery network, there is global network of edge servers which distributes the website's content from a multi-host environment.

CDN: CDN is popularly known as Content Delivery Network(CDN). It is one type of protocol to deliver the content using some technical process. The CDN servers scattered at various global situations work by making replicas of the web contents to each location. It is a system of distributed servers that deliver web contents and other website material to a user based on the geographic locations of the user, it basically operates like to get your required web content from your nearest servers. Using this will get an effective and reliable delivery even at the time of bandwidth congestion and it also reduces the risk of data loss. So, there is no need to take a backup in CDN, any other platforms.

Web Hosting: It is basically a medium. when you develop a new website for commercial as well as personal use, it requires the services of a web hosting to host your website and put it across the web. By hosting websites on the web, web hosting provider making their products and services available to the public across the world. CDN (Content Delivery Network):

A content delivery network or content distribution network (CDN) is a globally distributed network of proxy servers deployed in multiple data centers. The primary motto of CDN is to virtually shorten that physical distance and improve site rendering speed and performance.

Web hosting:

The primary purpose of web hosting is to host your website on a server and let users access it over the Internet. It is normally referred to one server.

It means having a CDN is worth since it helps to speed up the access to your website. But what if my web hosting provider doesn't offer me a CDN service? Where should I buy it from?
