Hi Guys,

Before we set the Reverse DNS, I would like to tell you what is Reverse DNS.

Reverse DNS is IP address to domain name - the opposite of DNS which maps domain names to IP addresses.
To store reverse DNS a special PTR-record type is used. The name of the PTR-record is the IP address with the segments reversed + ".in-addr.arpa".
For example the reverse DNS entry for IP 22.11.12.11 would be stored as a PTR-record for "11.12.11.22.in-addr.arpa".

Below are the steps to set rDNS from WHM.

1. Find for Edit DNS Zone under DNS Functions.

2. Select the IP address for which you want to set the reverse DNS.

QuoteNote
The DNS resolver reverses the IP, and adds it to ".in-addr.arpa" , turning 22.11.12.11 into 11.12.11.22.in-addr.arpa as discussed above.

3. Now you can set the reverse DNS under where it says "Add New Entries Below This Line", enter the corresponding octet or nibble (the final number in the IP address). Example: 11. In the drop down menu, select "PTR".

4. Enter the associated domain name for that IP address. Please refer below image.

QuoteNote
Dot (.) is compulsory at the end of domain name.

5. Click on save. Now reverse DNS is set for your domain, it will require sometime to propagate world wide. Once it propagates, rDNS will start working.
