The basic and main difference between a blog and website is the difference in how data is being presented and the format. The blog is a chronological listing of blog posts. The blog posts are archived by date, category, author, tags, and subcategories. A blog can be a part of a website, in the form of a separate page and linked to the homepage. On the other hand, a website in return can be anything. Anything on the internet presented in HTML/CSS or Java/Javascript/Python/PHP etc. comprises of a website. Fully functional and attractive websites are usually cost consuming tasks as you would have to build from the base up. See it totally depends on your skills. If you're good at content writing, then go to the blog, but if you're good in web designing and development then go to the website.

A blog is part of any website and you can post a new content from time to time. The blog post provides information to the users. A website is a collection of business related web pages. It provides full information of which type of services or product and business of your's, it is identified with the unique name and domain name. It is static, dynamic or builds using CMS. The website describes the full services of product or business and identifies what type of business you run.
There are many blogging platforms available online that help you create a blog if you wish to make a blog of your posts. WordPress and Blogger are the popular blogging platforms that are available to new bloggers who are looking for an easy way to start blogging or express their views and share their opinions.  :)

As per my opinion, you should opt for the blog instead of a website. It is easy to start your blog using free services like WordPress, bloggers, Weebly, Joomla and much more. However, it offers multiple features that give you easy access even though you belong to the tech background. As you update the content, then it will get crawled easily by the search engine. Blog post gets archived by date, category, sub-category, author bio.

At the website, you are not able to update regularly. It's a one-time investment and if we talk about content, then the content of the website is formal and static. In short, one-way communication.

Somesh

As compared to the website, users subscribe the blog newsletter easily to get more regular updates.

On the website, you can promote your products and services at one time, whereas in a blog, you can update your content related to sports field or you can highlight your services on a regular basis.

A blog is a type of a website whereas Website is a general term. A blog provides a commenting system. Also, a blog offers a subscription system to send free email newsletters to readers. On the other hand, a website is a collection of web pages including text and multimedia content. There are two types of websites. One is static sites and other is dynamic sites.
