Hosting Advice For Blogger
« on: April 09, 2014, 01:46:39 PM »
I would like to get some information for starting a blog. I know that WordPress is the perfect platform for starting a blog. Although I have read about some of the suitable solutions for hosting a blog, I would like to know which one is perfect for a blog? When a blog is started, in the initial phase the website traffic is minimum.

It will also be great if someone can explain that why WordPress is preferred by most of the bloggers in comparison to the other content management systems.

Hi Kavita,

I would suggest that initially you can start with a free WordPress blog. You will not have to invest anything, just start your blog. As the incoming traffic to your blog increases, you can consider getting a basic shared hosting package with WordPress and transfer your blog. WordPress is an ideal platform for many bloggers all over the world because it is user-friendly and it has a wide range of plugins available for making your blog impressive and efficient.

I would love to know what is the topic of your blog...  :D

Hello Brain,

Thanks for the suggestion. My blog features information on eCommerce and other web design and development related topics. However, right not I have started on a Blogger platform. I am a little confused about getting transferred to the WordPress hosting platform.

Can you guide me on this?

The process of transferring the blog from Blogger to WordPress is easy. However, if this is what you want to do, then it is important to consider some important things. For instance, you don't want to lose out on the traffic that is right now coming to your website.

You will get complete information on transferring the Blogger blog to WordPress hosting here - https://www.milesweb.com/hosting-faqs/migrate-blog-blogger-wordpress-simple-steps/

Thanks for sharing the link of this article. This is really an informative article and the steps mentioned can be easily implemented. I am going to refer this article to the bloggers in my network as well.

Apart from the points mentioned in this article, is there any thing else that a blogger should be concerned about in terms of moving the blog or maintaining the blog?

This is not really related to hosting, but I think that it is important to intimate your subscribers. If you have considerate amount of blog traffic and if you are active on the social media websites, you must send out an update about the earlier address of your blog and the new one. So that you don't miss out on readership.

That's a great point! Very considerate!

As a blogger, you can also think of creating a free WordPress blog first and then as the blog gets popular, you can get it hosted.

Well, that's a great option! I didn't think of that!
