First, we will see the scenarios when cPanel temporary URL are used:

  1. When customers are creating new websites and they want to test it before making them public.
  2. Customers who migrate their accounts from another hosting to your server and want to confirm that everything is fine, before switching the DNS to your server.

While accessing the temporary URL in the above cases, at times you might get a 404 error.
In this video, we will show you how to resolve this error.

  • Login to WHM as root.
  • On the left-hand side, you will see a search box in that, search for EasyApache 4 and click on it.
  • In the Currently Installed Packages click on Customize.
  • Go to Apache Modules and in this box search for mod_ruid2 and make sure that this option must be disabled.
  • Now again search for mod_suphp and enable this option, click on Next.
  • You will be automatically redirected to the PHP Versions section. Keep these settings as it is and proceed for the next step.
  • Again click on Next.
  • No changes, Next.
  • Also, in the Additional Packages section keep the default settings and click Next.
  • In the Review section check the list of packages installed in this profile.
  • On the left-hand side search for Security Center and under that select the option Apache mod_userdir Tweak.
  • Uncheck the option Enable mod_userdir Protection and check the option DefaultHost (nobody) from the Exclude Protection section.
  • Click on Save.
  • Upload the data and try accessing the temporary URL.

So in this way you can resolve the error cPanel temporary URL not working.
