How to create/start a website? What is required to get online?

To build and publish a website online, following three main components are required:

  • Domain Name
  • Web Hosting
  • Website

Domain Name: A domain name is a unique identity of your website. Every website on the internet is linked to a domain name. For example –, Similarly you will have to register a domain name for your website. Domain names are registered on yearly basis and it needs to be renewed every year to keep the website accessible. The website will stop functioning if the domain name expires.

Web Hosting: In web hosting, you get storage space and bandwidth. All your website pages, images, videos, media files and folders are stored on the web hosting server. The domain name is mapped to this server by updating the name servers, when a visitor browses your domain name, the browser will serve the pages uploaded in your web hosting account.
